Marc Bolan

Marc Bolan (1947-1977) was an influential English singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known as the frontman of the glam rock band T. Rex. Emerging in the late 1960s, Bolan initially gained recognition with the folk-inspired hit "Ride a White Swan" in 1970, which marked the beginning of his glam rock phase. His subsequent albums, particularly "Electric Warrior" (1971) and "The Slider" (1972), solidified T. Rex's status in the glam rock movement, with iconic tracks like "Get It On (Bang a Gong)" and "20th Century Boy." Bolan's flamboyant style—characterized by his androgynous appearance and catchy, riff-driven songs—helped shape the glam rock aesthetic and influenced a generation of artists, including David Bowie and later punk and indie musicians. His music often blended rock, pop, and boogie elements, making it widely accessible. Tragically, Bolan's life was cut short in a car accident in 1977, but his legacy endures. He is remembered as a pioneering figure in glam rock, whose innovative approach to music and performance left a lasting impact on popular culture. His work continues to resonate, inspiring musicians and fans alike.
